Volvo CE Unveils the All-New A50 Articulated Hauler in Revamped Lineup
Volvo Construction Equipment has introduced a new size class of articulated dump truck as part of its completely redesigned articulated hauler lineup. The A50, featuring a 50-ton payload capacity and advanced full-suspension technology, provides contractors with a powerful solution for navigating rough terrain in quarries, mines, and large construction projects.
Offering 10% higher productivity and 8% improved fuel efficiency compared to the previous A45G FS model, the A50 also incorporates enhanced full-suspension technology, enabling faster travel speeds and a smoother ride. With superior cycle times and industry-leading efficiency, this hauler fills a key market need, combining power, innovation, and modern design.
The A50 will make its North American tradeshow debut at the World of Asphalt event in St. Louis from March 25-27.
Innovation Drives Performance
Since Volvo CE introduced full hydraulic suspension in 2007, fleets worldwide have benefited from increased productivity and efficiency. The A50 builds on this legacy as the only full-suspension machine in its size class, offering significantly reduced cycle times, greater production per operator hour, and lower operating costs compared to standard suspension models.
A newly developed electronic system and Volvo-designed transmission further improve fuel efficiency, while the machine’s adaptable design ensures compatibility with future drivetrain technologies.
On the technology front, the Volvo Co-Pilot display provides operators with essential data and integrates smart features such as Haul Assist with onboard weighing, enhancing uptime, optimizing fuel consumption, improving site logistics, and maximizing productivity.
Power and Efficiency in One Package
The A50 shares the advanced features and performance upgrades of Volvo’s latest articulated dump truck series. Equipped with Volvo’s Terrain Memory and Dynamic Drive (predictive gear selection), it delivers unparalleled traction, stability, and fuel efficiency.
Enhanced visibility and safety features include an expanded field of view exceeding industry standards, a tailgate with extended arms for wider and faster opening, and multiple in-cab improvements. Maintenance costs are also reduced by up to 6% over 12,000 hours of operation, thanks to simplified servicing and extended maintenance intervals.
