Tigercat Introduces L857 Feller Buncher and LH857 Harvester on New Steep Terrain Platform
Tigercat has unveiled two new track carriers—the L857 feller buncher and LH857 harvester—engineered on its latest sloping tail platform designed specifically for steep terrain logging. Both machines are powered by the fuel-efficient Tigercat FPT N67 engine and feature an enhanced open loop hydraulic system that delivers strong tractive effort and reliable performance on challenging slopes.
The innovative sloping tail design brings a new level of capability to ground-based steep terrain operations. With improved weight distribution, a lower center of gravity, and Tigercat’s patented super-duty leveling undercarriage, operators benefit from greater stability, comfort, and confidence when working on inclines. The sloped tail allows for up to 26 degrees of leveling and improved cable clearance in winch-assisted applications. In roadside processing scenarios, the LH857’s ability to clear obstacles makes it highly effective in tight, crowded landings.
Additional upgrades include improved serviceability and extended maintenance intervals, thanks to in-tank hydraulic filtration. The side-opening engine enclosure gives full access to the engine and major hydraulic components, while the roof doubles as a safe and spacious service platform when open.
The LH857 harvester supports a range of Tigercat boom and head options, including the 573 and 575. The L857 feller buncher is ideally matched with the 5702 and 5702-26 felling saws, as well as the 5185 fixed felling saw.
