Scania debuts customizable Longline cab
The Longline cab is joining Scania's production lineup as part of the company's expanding premium vehicle range. Additional room and flexibility are paired with the efficiencies of Scania's modular platform in this low-volume, factory-certified model.
By blending elements of Scania’s CrewCab and S-series high-roof cab, the Longline creates a unique factory-built solution not currently offered by other truck manufacturers. Production will take place in Laxå, while the chassis will be assembled in Södertälje.
Flexibility is prioritized over a fixed interior design, enabling customers to configure the extended cab space according to their own operational and lifestyle requirements. Initial factory offerings include a limited range of rear-cabin layouts, such as sleeping, storage, shelving, and open-space configurations. Strategically placed mounting points provide the foundation for further customization and interior development.
Customization extends beyond the interior, with Scania also expanding opportunities for exterior personalization. Premium paint finishes in a full range of colours will be available through a partnership with a Swedish custom painter, giving customers more options for tailoring their vehicles while improving turnaround times.
Beyond personalization, market demand and evolving workforce expectations also influenced the development of the Longline concept. The cab's additional space and versatility are designed to make driving roles more appealing in an increasingly competitive labour market.
Work on the Longline cab project began in 2022, as part of Scania’s ongoing effort to develop customer-focused solutions that address specific operational requirements.
Built to comply with European Increased Vehicle Dimensions (IVD) regulations, the Longline takes advantage of allowances for extended vehicle configurations across Europe. Two high-roof variants, 28 and 31, will be offered initially, each providing more than two metres of interior headroom. The result is a spacious cabin that allows most drivers to stand fully upright.
The limited-production Longline cab caters to customers who value customization and seek a vehicle that reflects their own preferences and priorities.
