New HD Configuration Enhances Stability on the Cat® 325 Excavator

The Cat® 325 Excavator delivers exceptional performance with user-friendly standard technology, including Cat Grade with 2D, Grade Assist, Lift Assist, and Payload, helping operators work with precision, efficiency, and speed. Its heavy-duty, long undercarriage with oversized 203-mm (8-in) track pitch delivers unmatched stability and durability, even on rough, uneven ground. Add the optional blade for simpler backfilling and level operation on slopes.

Optimized Balance and Control

Equipped with a 7.5-tonne (16,540-lb) counterweight, the 325’s updated configuration delivers superior handling and stability, even under the added weight of attachments such as a blade, Variable Angle Boom (VAB), heavy-duty stick, bucket thumbs, or a quick coupler. With Reach or VAB front options and an optional blade, the new configuration comes thumb-ready and prewired with a quick coupler circuit—saving time and avoiding aftermarket installs. Larger final drives maximize drawbar pull for superior grade climbing, and higher swing torque ensures reliable uphill swing power.

Built for Heavy-Duty Work in Tight Spaces

With its new HD compact radius configuration, the Cat 325 Excavator combines heavy-duty strength with exceptional versatility in confined work areas. Operators benefit from technologies installed straight from the factory that improve efficiency, extended maintenance intervals that cut operating costs, and an electrohydraulic system designed for smooth, precise control.

Smart Efficiency and Simplified Maintenance

The excavator’s electro-hydraulic system and main control valve adapt in real time, sending the ideal amount of power for smoother, faster operation. With Smart Mode the engine automatically adjusts output to meet hydraulic demand, reducing fuel use without sacrificing performance.
Longer-lasting fuel, hydraulic oil, and air filters help lower total maintenance costs. The 325’s design eliminates pilot and case drain filters, reducing the total number of filters needed over the machine’s life. Routine checks, including engine oil inspection, can be done safely from ground level for easier daily maintenance.
