Komatsu Launches Next-Generation Dash 12 Excavators

Komatsu has unveiled two new Dash 12 excavators, engineered to deliver the most advanced and operator-friendly working environment the company has ever offered.

The PC220LC-12 is equipped with a redesigned cab and intuitive controls, emphasizing operator comfort, efficiency, and productivity. The PC220LCi-12 includes these features plus Komatsu’s latest Intelligent Machine Control (IMC) 3.0 technology, which integrates advanced automation to help operators maintain peak performance throughout each shift.

Designed for Versatility
Both models, positioned in the 21- to 24-ton class, are well-suited for residential and commercial contractors. Applications range from land clearing and earthmoving to precision, GPS-guided site development.

Enhanced Cab and Efficiency
Compared to the previous PC210LC-11 model, the new Dash 12 machines feature:

·         A cab that is 28% larger, offering 50% greater visibility and 30% more legroom.

·         Up to 20% improved fuel efficiency, powered by a high-output engine and a new electro-hydraulic system.

·         20% lower maintenance costs, due to extended replacement intervals for hydraulic oil and filters, as well as longer particulate filter cleaning cycles.

·         Increased lifting capacity by 7% and an 8% boost in bucket digging force.

Advanced Technology with IMC 3.0
The PC220LCi-12 introduces factory-integrated 3D boundary control. This technology enables operators to set work-restriction zones — including height, depth, and directional boundaries. The system automatically halts the machine before entering restricted areas, reducing errors and improving jobsite efficiency. Multiple zones can be stored, allowing operators to work seamlessly across different sections of a project.

Operator Comfort and Safety
Standard features across both models include:

·         A spacious cab with an air-suspension seat and ergonomic controls.

·         An operator ID system that stores up to 50 profiles, automatically loading personalized settings for each user.

·         Safety-driven technologies such as rollover avoidance alerts, a KomVision 360° camera providing bird’s-eye visibility, and an object detection alert mode.

With these advancements, the Dash 12 series represents Komatsu’s commitment to enhancing productivity, reducing operational costs, and ensuring a safer, more comfortable operator experience.
