John Deere Upgrades 900-Series Tracked Feller Bunchers, Harvesters, and Shovel Loggers

•    The improved Dedicated Travel System boosts efficiency and enhances multifunctionality by isolating travel functions during operation.
•    The new one-touch Return-To-Level feature simplifies multiple leveling adjustments with a single push-and-hold input, allowing operators to stay focused.
•    Various leveling system upgrades have been integrated into all 900-Series models.

MOLINE, Ill. (Mar. 11, 2025) — John Deere has introduced a series of operator assistance features and performance enhancements for its 900 M-Series Tracked Feller Bunchers, 900 MH-Series Tracked Harvesters, and 900 ML-Series Shovel Loggers. Designed to enhance productivity and durability, these updates include a more efficient Dedicated Travel System, now a standard feature on the 900 M-Series machines. Additionally, the new Return-To-Level functionality and undercarriage reinforcements further boost machine durability and operational control. These advancements aim to improve the overall operator experience across diverse applications.

Enhanced Dedicated Travel System
The Dedicated Travel System separates travel functions from boom and swing operations, preventing interference and maintaining smooth travel movement. Operators can now prioritize power between upper and travel functions to optimize machine performance. This feature is standard on the 859M, 953M, and 959M Feller Bunchers, as well as the 959ML Shovel Logger, with optional availability on the 853M and 903M Feller Bunchers, and 859MH and 959MH Harvesters.

Return-To-Level with Slope Management System
The new one-touch Return-To-Level functionality consolidates multiple leveling adjustments into a single joystick input, simplifying operation on sloped terrain. When the machine encounters a slope, the rotating upper can be automatically returned to a level position with a push-and-hold action. Individual leveling controls remain available for manual adjustments. This feature works in tandem with the proven John Deere Slope Monitoring system, which actively measures and displays terrain slope to the operator. These combined features form the new Slope Management System, an optional upgrade available for all 800 and 900 Series leveling feller bunchers, harvesters, and shovel loggers.

Undercarriage and Leveling System Improvements
All 800 and 900 Series leveling feller bunchers, harvesters, and shovel loggers have received upgrades to their leveling system cylinder pin joints. These improvements include larger-diameter pins, tighter machining tolerances, and an optimized grease path to enhance the initial fit and direct grease precisely where needed. These refinements reduce bearing stress and boost overall system performance. Additionally, on all 800 and 900 undercarriages, the track frame steps are now welded onto the machine’s frame with added gusseting to strengthen them against impact.
With these latest innovations, John Deere continues to empower operators by delivering reliable, high-performance machines that meet the demands of tough logging environments.
