John Deere Mural Highlights Horicon Works History
A series of large-scale paintings is adding a colorful new feature to the landscape surrounding John Deere's Horicon Works factory in Wisconsin.
The artwork, which covers several exterior walls along the Rock River, features John Deere equipment working across different landscapes and time periods.
Local artist James Barany, who also teaches at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, created the expansive mural.
The project offers more than a look at John Deere machinery. It also represents the people and history associated with the Horicon facility, where generations of workers have played a role in manufacturing the company's equipment.
The paintings' location gives them a prominent place in the community. They can be seen from the river and surrounding areas, including by passengers aboard local riverboat tours. The scenes capture the story of the Horicon Works facility and the John Deere equipment that has been part of it.
