John Deere Brings Agriculture to Field of Dreams
The Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, is best known as a baseball landmark, but during this year’s MLB at Field of Dreams event, presented by John Deere, there was plenty of farming history on display, too.
One of the displays was a large-scale version of a John Deere 2640 toy tractor. Based on the tractor from the Field of Dreams movie, the oversized version gave visitors a chance to see the design on a much larger scale.
Historic tractors and collector equipment lined the grounds, offering a look at machines from different eras of farming. Photos, memorabilia and other John Deere items also reflected the long connection between farming and baseball.
Not all of the John Deere equipment was on display; some machines were used to prepare and maintain the field.
Another part of the event focused on the community, John Deere employees took part in packing about 12,000 meals along with MLB Together, River Bend Food Bank and Bodensteiner Implement for families across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
