John Deere Adds 844 and 904 Models to Its Growing X-Tier Wheel Loader Line
The 844 and 904 X-Tier Wheel Loaders join John Deere’s production-class range. Designed for demanding operations, they deliver greater material-moving performance with lower fuel consumption, supported by electrified drivetrain technology and smart controls.
The new loaders are equipped with John Deere's Electric Variable Transmission (EVT), which electronically manages power delivery to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and overall machine performance. EVT reduces operator workload by enabling single-pedal operation while maintaining hydraulic performance regardless of engine speed.
Enhanced traction from Pile Slip Assist and high-capacity steel buckets help operators maximize productivity by moving more material in fewer passes. This can also contribute to lower tire wear and reduced operating costs.
Two selectable operating modes allow loaders to adapt performance to the demands of the job. Standard Mode delivers up to 15% fuel savings, and Performance Mode provides up to 5% greater productivity, helping lower total cost of ownership by up to 4%.
Customers can add available technologies such as the Advanced Vision System (AVS) and Advanced Object Detection. Side-mounted cameras broaden visibility around the machine, while projected reverse path lines help illustrate the loader's intended reverse route. The system combines side and rear camera views into a single in-cab display.
The loaders are supported by a suite of connected technologies and service resources, including John Deere Operations Center™, remote diagnostics, and available service plans. Eligible electric-drive components are also covered for five years or 15,000 hours.
