DEVELON Introduces High-Tech -9 Series Excavators at CONEXPO
DEVELON pulled the curtain back on its newest generation of excavators at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, unveiling the -9 Series during a live presentation at the Festival Grounds.
The lineup marks the North American debut of a redesigned excavator platform built around electronic hydraulic (EH) controls and integrated artificial intelligence. Moving away from traditional pilot-operated controls allows for greater operator precision, improved jobsite safety and a lower learning curve for new operators.
Technology Driving the -9 Series
The new excavators introduce several notable advancements aimed at productivity and safety.
Advanced AI Safety Monitoring with Intelligent E-Stop
A new smart around view monitor (AVM) system uses AI-powered cameras to recognize people within the machine’s operating area. Combined with a radar system capable of detecting objects up to 6 meters away, the excavator can automatically activate an intelligent E-Stop to stop machine swing or travel if a person is detected nearby.
Enhanced Operator Control with EH Technology
The EH control system enables features such as stick steer travel controlled through joystick thumbwheels. Operators can also adjust joystick sensitivity, response speed and button layouts to match their operating preferences.
Factory-Ready Smart Grading Technology
All -9 Series excavators include 2D capability from the factory and are prepared for 3D systems, thanks to integrated IMU sensors that allow plug-and-play compatibility with providers such as Trimble and Leica.
Advanced 12-Inch Smart Display
Replacing the traditional monitor is a vertical tablet-style touchscreen with a customizable split-screen interface, enabling operators to simultaneously view grade control systems, AI camera feeds and critical machine data.
The machines showcased at CONEXPO included the DX230LC-9, DX260LC-9, DX360LC-9 and DX400LC-9 excavators.
