CASE Construction Equipment Has Expanded its Electric Vehicle (EV) Lineup

CASE Construction Equipment has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the commercial release of the 580EV, the industry's first electric backhoe loader. This milestone marks a significant step towards emissions-free productivity on construction sites. The 580EV will soon be joined by two additional EV models: the CX25EV 2.5-metric ton mini excavator and the CL36EV 3.6-metric ton compact wheel loader. These new additions increase CASE’s EV offering to five models, including the previously launched CX15EV electric mini excavator and SL22EV small articulated loader.

Expanded EV Offerings from CASE

The new generation of CASE EV equipment provides zero-emissions and low-noise solutions for various jobsite demands, such as overnight construction or projects in urban areas where noise and emissions need to be minimized. The electric models deliver performance and power comparable to their diesel counterparts while offering advantages such as lower fuel costs and reduced maintenance requirements.

Terry Dolan, vice president of CASE Construction Equipment for North America, emphasized that the company’s EV offerings are designed to meet diverse jobsite needs, helping customers win contracts on projects that prioritize sustainability.

Features of the 580EV Electric Backhoe Loader

The CASE 580EV electric backhoe loader retains the same dimensions, loading, and digging capabilities as the 97-horsepower CASE 580SN diesel model, while integrating modern features like an 8-inch color display, air conditioning, and multicolored LED strobe lights. It is powered by a 400-volt, 71-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, which provides up to eight hours of runtime on a single charge. This battery platform incorporates an advanced thermal management system for optimal performance in varying temperatures.

The electric backhoe uses two independent electric motors for the PowerDrive transmission and hydraulic pumps, enhancing energy efficiency and performance in loading applications. Other features, such as ProControl swing dampening, PowerLift/PowerBoost, and electrohydraulic controls, ensure precision and ease of use. Electrification offers additional advantages, including instantaneous torque response and peak torque at any RPM.

Additional EV Models: CX25EV Mini Excavator and CL36EV Compact Wheel Loader

CASE will soon release two more electric models. The CX25EV mini excavator is a larger, more powerful version of the existing electric mini excavator, offering maneuverability and emissions-free performance suitable for urban sites. It includes advanced hydraulic flow settings and multiple auxiliary circuits for versatility in various applications.

The CL36EV compact wheel loader matches the power of its diesel counterparts while providing simplified maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership. With a hinge-pin height exceeding 10 feet, it is ideal for supply yards and indoor projects where zero emissions are essential.

Commitment to Sustainable Construction

With these additions, CASE offers more solutions for contractors in environments requiring low noise or no emissions, complementing their existing diesel lineup. Dolan notes that these EV machines set a new benchmark in sustainable construction, demonstrating CASE’s commitment to practical innovation that enhances productivity and efficiency for a range of applications.
