Holland Introduces New Hybrid Welder™, Advancing Sustainable Rail Welding Solutions
Holland introduced mobile flash-butt welding services in 1972 with a welder mounted in a retrofitted Pullman car. Today, the company operates a fleet of 200 MobileWelders® across North America and Australia. Expanding their mobile welding capabilities, Holland has launched the new Hybrid Welder™, which delivers the same high-quality flash-butt welds but in a more sustainable and eco-friendly package.
Russ Gehl, Holland’s Executive Vice President of Business Operations, commented, “This marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for rail welding. As railroads increasingly focus on green initiatives, we are committed to investing in technologies that support our customers' environmental goals.” Gehl also highlighted that the Hybrid Welder is part of Holland's ongoing efforts to develop smaller, lighter flash-butt welding systems for use in tunnels and other challenging environments. "We are excited about the future of our fleet and the potential to deploy more of these welders worldwide," Gehl added.
The Hybrid Welder retains the industry-leading technology of the traditional MobileWelder® but features a battery-powered welder head. This innovation eliminates mechanical systems prone to failure, enhancing Holland’s already impressive uptime. Key benefits of this sustainable solution include reduced fuel consumption and emissions, lower noise levels to improve operator safety and environmental conditions, and compliance with future emission regulations for traditional generators.
