Wetland Access: Choose the Best Equipment

Puzzles and Games

Wetland Access Challenge

A multiple‑choice decision game for heavy‑equipment enthusiasts

How It Works
• Review each Wetland scenario
• Pick the option that minimizes impact and gets the job done
• Check the Answer Key at the end to see your results

Scenario 1: Soft Marsh Crossing

Ground pressure must be minimal. Access is limited, and adding materials or temporary routes is not preferred. Rutting is strictly prohibited.

Choose One:

A. Tracked excavator with timber mats
B. Rubber‑tired backhoe
C. Low‑ground‑pressure tracked carrier
D. Standard dozer

Scenario 2: Seasonal Water Level Rise

Halfway through the project, water levels rise by 30 cm due to seasonal conditions. Work must continue without violating environmental restrictions.

Choose One:

A. Continue work as originally planned
B. Switch to amphibious or swamp‑rated equipment
C. Drain the area to restore previous conditions
D. Add ballast to the existing machines

Scenario 3: Vegetation Preservation

Protected reed beds must remain undamaged while installing monitoring instruments in the wetland.

Choose One:

A. Clear a narrow access lane through the reeds
B. Use a temporary floating walkway system
C. Hand‑carry all equipment across the wetland
D. Approach the site from multiple directions

Scenario 4: Emergency Access Requirement

A monitoring sensor has failed and must be replaced quickly. The area is saturated, and regulatory approvals are limited to the smallest disturbance possible.

Choose One:

A. Send the lightest available tracked machine directly to the location
B. Delay work until ground conditions improve
C. Use aerial access such as a small helicopter or lift boat
D. Build a permanent gravel access road

Scenario 5: Long‑Term Monitoring Installation

Monitoring equipment will need to be accessed multiple times per year with minimal ongoing disturbance to the wetland.

Choose One:

A. Re‑enter the wetland by the shortest route each time
B. Establish a designated low‑impact access route
C. Rotate access paths to spread impact
D. Use different machines each visit to reduce wear
