I run a wheel loader and I always have trouble getting a full bucket. I am ok with the other parts of my operating, but I can’t seem to get a full bucket like the other guys.

It’s about time heavyequipment.com got this forum set up!

Getting a full bucket with a wheel loader usually depends on proper operating technique rather than the machine itself. App***** the material pile at the correct angle, maintain steady throttle, and enter the base of the pile with controlled momentum. As you move forward, gradually curl the bucket while slightly lifting to maximize material retention. A well-shaped pile also improves loading efficiency. Proper training and practice with construction e****ent will significantly improve your bucket fill performance and overall productivity.

One thing that helped me was changing how I approached the pile. Instead of trying to force the bucket straight in, try keeping the bucket fairly level and use the lift and tilt together as you load.

Also watch your approach speed. If you hit the pile too fast, you can actually end up pushing material underneath the bucket instead of filling it. A little practice with the bucket angle and timing the curl as you enter the pile makes a pretty big difference.

If the other guys are consistently getting fuller buckets with the same machine, I'd watch their technique for a few cycles. You can usually spot the difference pretty quickly.
